I know, you’ve heard it before, you can’t start marketing without a
map or a plan. Well, I’m here to tell you how that old bit of
wisdom is only partially true. For example, you’ve probably gotten
along just fine until now with whatever you’ve been doing, right?
Did you have a plan or map, maybe, but could it always be better?
Sure it could.
When I say map, I mean mindmap! In the resource links below,
you’ll find a set of marketing plan mind maps, as well as a simple
spreadsheet (and a Word doc, use whichever works for you) for planning
out your marketing, starting today. I’ve given you some major
categories to work from and have painted a bit of a picture for you
on what a simple but effective marketing plan can look like.
The real work for you today is to put together your marketing wish
list, put some time in your calendar each day for the month of
June to work on this DIY marketing e-course.
***** ACTION SUMMARY *****
1. Download and review the Marketing Planning documents and mind
maps listed below.
2. Create a wish list in the Marketing Plan spreadsheet of 10
things that you’d like to see your marketing do for you by the end
of the year. Things like “land an interview spot on the local
morning show” or “reach 500 subscribers on my newsletter” might
show up on your list.
3. Take some time now to create a daily recurring appointment
on your calendar to attend to your marketing activities (if you don’t
do this already).
