e-Course Day 8 Email
SUBJECT: [DIY Marketing] And on the 8th day, it’s time to look back and regroup
Hi there! We’ve reached the 8th day in our 30 day DIY
marketing e-course for Entrepreneurs Do-it-Yourself Marketing month!
I’ve had a few emails asking something to the effect of “so, this stuff
is great, but how am I supposed to keep up?” We’ll take care of that
issue today!
Oh, and if you just signed up, you can see the course info we’ve
already covered right here:

will happen to you the rest of the day.”

==================================================================
For the past several days, you’ve been fed a constant diet of
marketing ideas, planning tips and action items. Some of them might
seem out of order (like, shouldn’t we have done some segmenting,
targeting and positioning somewhere in the mix here?) but I assure
you that in the order of DIY importance for every entrepreneur, there
are multiple paths that you can take and this is just one version.
As I mentioned above, I’ve had a few emails asking how to keep up
with and implement everything. On that note, let’s take a day to
review and breath.
*** Day 1: Every Good [Marketing] Journey Starts With a Map!
Planning is critical, and I use mindmaps and other related tools
to keep my marketing on track. A spreadsheet, word document or
some other tool that you have close at hand every morning may be
helpful for you. The bottom line is that not a workday should go
by without invoking your sales & marketing engine.

*** Day 2: Does everyone know about you who should know about you?
It’s critical to build awareness in your target markets (and to
have properly defined targets in the first place). Once we have
awareness, we can begin to work on the rest of the marketing
hierarchy to ensure lead generation and ultimately sales success.

*** Day 3: Time to work on your “number one, number two” strategy.
Are you playing offense?
As Jack Welch said, GE set out to be #1 or #2 in every market that
they served. I’m advocating that you choose your markets and focus
on customer segments where you can be the same. Have a look at who
you serve. Are you an fit for the #1 or #2 supplier to them? If not,
what can you do to get there? (ask them)

*** Day 4: Are you giving back enough of what you’ve gained?
The best entrepreneurs are often the best philanthropists as well.
Look around you. How can you get involved in your community, your chamber
of commerce, your industry association and other ares to achieve
mutual gain?

*** Day 5: Friday is “make me a smarter marketer” day.
Constant education is one of the entrepreneur’s best weapons in today’s
hyper competitive market. Be on the lookout for every opportunity
to upgrade your skill set and grow your marketing acumen. Attend free
webinars, read marketing websites and attend a conference or two
a year. In order to out-market you need to out-smart your competitors.

*** Day 6: Let’s talk about building your marketing database/list
this weekend!
While we could focus on some old marketing more fundamentals, nothing
is more fundamental in your business than keeping an up-to-date list of
addressable clients or customers. Review Saturday’s email for ideas
and resources to help you build that all-important house email list.

*** Day 7: 31 Ways to Build Your Mailing Database.
On the 7th day, we filled the database! Well, at least you have a bunch
of ideas on how to fill your email or mailing database. Take a few of
these and put them into practice today and work on the rest in the coming
weeks and months.
